Job Purpose:

Under the direction of the Materials Manager, the Traffic Coordinator ensures the day-to-day shipping/receiving operations are carried out in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may expand to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.

1.   Assist Materials Manager in development of reliable, cost-effective in-bound carriers and coordinates their utilization.

2.   Assist Materials Manager in development of reliable, cost-effective import/export procedures and brokers and coordinates their utilization.

3.   Assist Materials Manager with selection and contracting of trucking and transporting of finished goods.

4.   Unload trucks and ensure proper receipt of all-incoming materials, supplies and equipment.

5.   Notify office personnel of incoming packages marked to their attention.

6.   Properly stage parts based on job status; not started, in progress, shipped.

7.   Inform Materials Manager and/or Purchasing/Buyer of any discrepancies or possible low quantities when pulling stock parts.

8.   Coordinate with the Shipping/Receiving Lead ensuring proper packaging and/or crating of outbound freight.

9.   Coordinate with the Shipping/Receiving Lead to track the location of all materials from receipt to disposition on assembly floor.

10.   Create documentation for outgoing shipments.

11.   Prepare proper documentation for export shipping.

12.   Make daily entries in appropriate logs and on computer system.

13.   Maintain general housekeeping in both the storeroom and shipping/receiving areas.

Supervisory Responsibilities

·         Supervises the Shipping/Receiving Personnel

Education and/or Experience:

·          High School graduate or GED, Associate Degree in Business Administration or related field preferred.

·          Related work experience in a Manufacturing Shipping/Receiving environment, usually acquired through 3 – 5 years of exposure.

·          Certified forklift operator.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

·          Possess general knowledge of shipping, receiving and inventory control systems and procedures. (Online UPS, FedEx, DHL shipping systems)

·          Ability to work odd or extended hours during peak shipping times.

·          Possess general knowledgeable in the proper use of slings, chains, cranes and fork trucks.

·          Mathematical skills that require the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

·          Ability to record and log information accurately.

·          Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are essential.

·          Must be able to handle multiple tasks in a very fast paced, sometimes stressful environment and possess strong decision-making skills.

·          Demonstrated proficiency in general office related software. (Ex: Microsoft Office and/or MRP/ERP System)

·          Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in verbal, written, or diagram form.

The employee must occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.  The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.  The employee occasionally performs work-related travel.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
